“When I first began seeing Korina about two months ago, my easy breath hold (control pause) was right around 10. “I was a child with asthma and I had grown out of it. Unfortunately, my husband and I had unknowingly rented an apartment with mold and my asthma was aggravated enough to return to me. I went to my doctor and had a visit with a respiratory therapist, and they had me taking the generally common steroid inhalers. It seemed that the conventional way of treatment did not help me feel normal and I had this weight of pressure on my chest from the inflammation quite regularly. Sometimes it lasted weeks at a time and caused many panic attacks.
Then I decided to try the more natural route. I started with a salt inhaler, it helped some but I wouldn’t say I was happy with the results. After quite some time I was introduced to buteyko. Korina was my instructor and because of her own experience with asthma she could relate to my case. It was slow going to start because of some detox symptoms, but Korina was patient and had me go at a pace that I could handle with the exercises. I am very happy to say that buteyko has lessened my asthma symptoms. I am still progressing so I know it might still be a while to have the full benefits, however it is wonderful to not have to suffer with an asthma pressure on my chest so intense that I feel I can’t accomplish anything.
I am extremely happy I tried buteyko, it helps me so much more than the other options I have tried. I don’t have the panic attacks associated with the stress from asthma anymore and although I still occasionally have chest tightness, it doesn’t last as long and is much more manageable.
